Parkinson’s UK have recently changed their communications about the number of people with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s in the UK. Their soon to be published prevalence study shows that the most accurate figure is now 166,000 people, rather than 153,000. Parkinson’s is on the rise. In the UK today, someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes. By 2050, the number of people with Parkinson’s worldwide will double to 25 million.

PUK have teamed up with BeechBand.

Diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease at 51, charity activist and founder Carl Beech began to experience slurring and a rapidly worsening stammer. Faced with the loss of his speech, he very nearly gave up hope.

But one day, Carl was experimenting with a therapeutic tapping technique, when he realised that rhythmic tapping helped to calm his speech. So, he had the idea: what if this could be turned into a wearable that could benefit more people more easily?

If you’d like to find out more, please look at their website at www.BeechBand.com where you can buy a BeechBand for £49.50
