Dear Members,

I have been asked by Parkinsons UK to send this to all groups for participation, please share with your membership

Apologies, but this was previously sent without the attachment.

Details about an event in South London:

We have been having some conversations along with Mohammed Kalam (Parkinson's UK Regional Fundraiser) with the Decathlon Store in Surrey Quays.  The store has a large first floor which is used for activities such as table tennis and pickleball, along with a cafe.  They are keen to encourage the community to make use of the space and have approached Parkinson's UK about activities for people with Parkinson's.

We are organising an event to showcase the space and the activities and to see if there is scope to develop some ongoing Parkinson's sessions that complement the activities already provided by the groups and other physical activity providers in the area.

Attached is a flyer for the event, which is taking place on the 22nd May in the morning.  People will need to book a place (family, friends and carers welcome too).  Places are limited.  They can book to come and have a look or to take part in table tennis and pickleball.  There is also free tea and cake.  Please can you share the flyer with your members and if you are able to join us it would be great to see you there!

Following the event it would be great to get your thoughts about ongoing activities at the store for people with Parkinson's.

I hope this is useful information, please do share to your membership.

Kind regards

As part of our work on the disability support reforms we want to know how the Parkinson's community feels about the UK government's proposed changes to PIP and UC.

So we've put together this short anonymous questionnaire and want as many people affected by Parkinson's to complete it.

It should take about 10 minutes to complete and will be open until 27 May.

We'd love it if you could share it with your networks and encourage people to complete it. The results will help us to better understand the impact of the changes on the Parkinson's community, shape our response to the government and our campaign.

The survey asks about:

·         what people with Parkinson's think about the proposed changes

·         how people use their benefit payments

·         how their lives might change if they no longer received their benefit.

If you have any questions about the survey please contact Sue Christoforou, Policy Manager. schristoforou@parkinsons.org.uk
